Gabriella Kroska, of Pierz, MN graduated in May 2018 with a degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Spanish, and became certified as an Exercise Physiologist. Upon graduation, Gabriella returned home to visit family briefly before moving to Santiago, Chile to teach English. She plans to eventually pursue a graduate degree and work in Higher Education Administration with Education Abroad or Career Services. As a Levine Scholar, Gabriella interned with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte, Elite Wellness, Charlotte Research Scholars, and the University Career Center. She also spent a summer abroad shadowing physical therapy in Bharatpur and Kathmandu, Nepal, taught volleyball at a summer camp in Kumasi, Ghana, and spent a summer studying Spanish in Santiago, Chile. “Four years as a Levine Scholar flew by in the blink of an eye. At the same time though, I look back at how I’ve developed through each experience, and I can’t believe that it somehow all fits in four years! The challenges and opportunities afforded to me by this program have developed me into a better leader, community member, and friend.” Gabriella stated, “UNC Charlotte felt like home from the first time I set foot on campus. The supportive and innovative atmosphere created by the faculty, staff, and fellow students has provided a springboard for me and others to pursue goals and challenge ourselves to go farther, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to ‘Stake my Claim’ at UNC Charlotte.” During her time at UNC Charlotte, Gabriella took scuba certification classes, joined various intramural sports, and was actively involved with Exercise is Medicine-On Campus.
