Megan Lemon

Megan Lemon, of Towson, MD, graduated in May 2018 with an International Studies degree, concentrated on Development and Sustainability with minors in Economics, Public Health, and Women and Gender Studies. Upon graduation, Megan will begin her 27-month Peace Corps service in Fiji as a Community Youth Empowerment Volunteer. She hopes to enter law school when she returns from Fiji. As part of the Levine Scholars Program, Megan interned with Make-A-Wish Foundation during her non-profit summer and the following fall semester. She also studied abroad to expand her Spanish-language skills in Barcelona, Spain, focusing on European economics, and in San Jose, Costa Rica, focusing on health and development in Latin America. Megan travelled to India after her sophomore year to explore the Indian education system in the Himalayas and how recent booms in tourism have impacted the communities there. She also travelled to Nepal after her junior year to work in solidarity with women who have faced domestic violence and/or severe mental illnesses on a self-sustaining farm in the foothills of the Himalayas at Her Farm Nepal. During her time at UNC Charlotte, Megan was very involved with Girls on the Run. “Being able to tailor all of my Levine experiences to what interested me or what I wanted to find out more about made all the difference when it came time to decide what I wanted to do with my future,” Megan explained, “but the true difference was the amount of mentoring and guidance I received whenever I was making decisions about the next stages of my life, whether that be study abroad, summer experiences, or my next move after graduation.”
