Randy Staples

Class of 2018
Hometown: Silver Spring, MD

Randy Staples of Silver Spring, MD graduated in May 2018 with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Economics. Randy worked for the Red Cross for the nonprofit internship, and the next summer went to London to pursue a professional internship with Resurgence, based out of Google Campus. He completed a semester of study abroad focusing on Economics in London as well, making connections that will last a lifetime. The summer after junior year was a busy one, as he returned from London and dove deep into an Operations Management internship with UDR, based in Alexandria, VA. Randy partnered with fellow class of 2018 scholar Megan Woody to complete a civic engagement in which they facilitated the rehabilitation of several aspects of Reedy Creek Park, most notably the basketball court. In his final year at the University he served as the Entertainment Chair of the Charlotte Dance Marathon, enjoying forming bonds with his fellow volunteers while serving the kids of the Levine Children’s Hospital. “LSP has given me more than I ever thought possible. I’m beyond grateful for all that I’ve been able to do and experience through the scholarship, and will take the lessons I’ve learned over these past years into the rest of my life.” After graduation he plans to join the workforce, aiming for a consulting role.
