Hometown: Matthews, NC
Megan Woody, of Matthews, NC, graduated in May 2018 with degrees in Public Health and Chemistry and a minor in Biology. After graduation, Megan remained in Charlotte working with Deloitte’s Strategy and Operations Consulting Practice. Eventually, Megan plans to return to school to attain her Master of Business Administration degree. During her time in the Levine Scholar’s Program, Megan interned at Care Ring where she conducted research she later presented at the American Public Health Association Conference. Megan was selected to attend a NIH-sponsored Summer Institute in Biostatistics and worked as a Summer Scholar in Deloitte’s Strategy and Operations Consulting Practice. For her international experience, she traveled to South Africa to explore the sociology of health and healthcare, focusing on HIV. “The Levine Scholars Program allowed me to take risks and explore nontraditional career fields. I pull on the lessons learned during my summer experiences each day and believe they prepared me to pivot into a career business from a science-based undergraduate degree.” On campus, Megan conducted award-winning research in both chemistry and public health. Megan was actively involved in cru and Charlotte Dance Marathon, where she served as a committee member, Catering Chair, and Development Director and developed Sweets Showcase, the organization’s first annual community fundraising event. “Through Dance Marathon I developed as a leader, I found my strengths, and I found my home in a movement that is larger than myself,” Megan said. “I will forever be connected to this movement and I look forward to seeing the organization continue to grow.”
