Laura Outlaw

Laura Outlaw graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Belk College of Business in May 2014 with degrees in international business and finance with a concentration in accounting. Laura is from Mount Olive, NC and attended the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics for high school before joining the Levine Scholars Program.  

Laura created a non-traditional undergraduate experience by studying abroad for one semester in Sydney, Australia and two semesters in Salamanca, Spain, where she learned numerous life-lessons and gained a more global perspective. She has had the opportunity to travel to over 35 countries, most of which were during her time at UNC Charlotte, including Vietnam, Thailand, Slovenia, Montenegro, Portugal, Switzerland, Morocco, and the United Arab Emirates.

While at Charlotte, Laura was selected to participate, as one of the first-ever allowed sophomores, on the UNC Charlotte Tax Team, competing against universities across the country on a case requiring the implementation of US tax code. She also volunteered at the Charlotte Habitat for Humanity ReStore weekly, a relationship that was formed in her freshman year. During her senior year, Laura worked on a service project, The American Workday, with two other Levine students to shed light on occupational variances of American workers through powerful photographic imagery and first person accounts. The project is still in progress, and the goal is to eventually publish a book that funds a program for workforce training.   

Laura completed two pre-professional internships during her last two summers. She joined Enventys, an innovative product development and improvement company, as a marketing and research intern before her junior year. She also had the opportunity to attend the 2012 DNC in Charlotte and represent Enventys. Laura interned with Ernst & Young during the summer before her senior year and will join Ernst & Young full-time as a financial services consultant in September of 2014 to gain work experience before returning to graduate school. When asked about her last four years, Laura says, “UNC Charlotte provided me with the knowledge, perspective, and communication skills to confidently and eagerly enter the work force. Its diverse and dynamic campus as well as its relationship with the city of Charlotte provides an experience that would be difficult to find at many universities.”
