Jadyn Becoats is an elementary education major with a minor in urban youth and communities. Throughout her four years at UNC Charlotte, LSP has been a pivotal part of her college experience, providing her with meaningful opportunities to grow as an educator through internships, research experiences, community engagement and studying abroad in Santander, Spain.
After graduation, Jadyn plans to begin her teaching career with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. She plans to pursue a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction after gaining one-to-two years of classroom experience. While teaching will provide her with an important foundation, Jadyn’s long-term goal is to move into educational administration, where she hopes to use her experiences in the classroom and her passion for supporting students and teachers to create positive change at the school level.
Jadyn has been actively involved in opportunities that have allowed her to connect her academic experiences with the needs of the Charlotte community. Her experiences with internships, research, civic engagement and the Levine Scholars program have strengthened her understanding of the many factors that shape students’ educational experiences, particularly for students in urban communities. Studying abroad in Spain also expanded her perspective by allowing her to experience education and culture outside of the United States.
As she prepares to begin her career, Jadyn hopes to continue learning and building meaningful relationships with students and educators; she aims to develop the skills necessary to become an effective leader in education. Jadyn is committed to using her experiences to advocate for students, support teachers and contribute to stronger and more inclusive school communities.
