We are grateful to recommenders taking the time to support a student applying for the Levine Scholars Program at UNC Charlotte. Your insights play a critical role in our highly selective process and we deeply value your prospective and the thoughtfulness you bring to your letter. This page provides key information to help you prepare your recommendation and submit it in the Recommender Portal.

What We Ask of You

Each applicant is required to have two letters of recommendation submitted on their behalf:
- Academic Recommendation: This should be written from someone who can speak to the student’s intellectual curiosity, academic potential and contributions in a learning environment.
- Community Service/Leadership Recommendation: This should be written from someone who can reflect on the student’s commitment to community service and capacity for ethical leadership.
Recommenders are also asked to complete a brief questionnaire about the student’s strengths in specific areas, if applicable.
If you are not available to write a letter of recommendation, please inform the student as soon as possible to allow an additional recommender to be added to the application. We do not review applications that do not have both letters of recommendation.

Letter Submission Instructions

Applicants for the scholarship are instructed to submit their recommenders’ contact information immediately after gaining access to the application to allow recommenders ample time to submit the letters.
Recommenders are immediately sent an email from the Levine Scholars Program with a link to the Recommender Portal. The portal has specific instructions on what type of recommendation is being requested, and additional guidance is provided.
Recommenders are free to return to the portal when the letter is ready to be uploaded and to submit the questionnaire. The deadline is Nov. 15 by 11:59 p.m. EST. Emailed letters are not accepted.
