Andrew Simmons

Major: Geography and Sociology
Andrew is pursuing majors in Geography and Sociology. Andrew co-chaired the Undergraduate Research Conference (URC) Student Leadership Team, where he led outreach initiatives to drive presenters and audience members to the conference. On campus, he serves as the secretary of Habitat for Humanity and is an active member of the 49er Urban Planners. He also regularly volunteers with NC MedAssist and the Jamil Niner Student Pantry.
Andrew completed a nonprofit internship with Three Sisters Market, collaborating with community members to build support for a food cooperative in the West Boulevard corridor, which has lacked a grocery store for over 30 years. In the spring semester of 2026, he is studying abroad at Kingston University in Kingston upon Thames, England, and will continue his global studies in the summer of 2026 in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
