Annabelle is a third-year Scholar from Chattanooga, Tennessee. At UNC Charlotte, Annabelle is a triple major in Political Science, French and International Studies with a concentration in Peace, Conflict and Identity Studies. Annabelle’s academic interests intersect in the fields of International Policy and Humanitarian Service specifically as they apply to migration. To this end, she has been a Summer Intern with the Carolina Refugee Resettlement Agency in Charlotte and an Immigration Legal Casework Intern with the International Rescue Committee. On campus, Annabelle is in leadership of internationally focused clubs including the Charlotte Global Studies Organization and UNC Charlotte Model United Nations, conducts research on migration issues, and interns with the University’s External Relations and Partnerships team to further connections between UNC Charlotte and the broader community. Annabelle has studied abroad twice, first spending a summer studying Public Health and Socio-Spatial Justice in Stellenbosch, South Africa and later spending a semester in immersive French Language coursework in the small town of Pau, France. Since returning stateside, Annabelle has become a Study Abroad Ambassador for the University to encourage more students to study abroad. Together, Annabelle’s experiences in undergrad have heightened her commitments to people-centric policy, collaborative community and hands on humanity — ideas she places at the center of her civic engagement and professional efforts and hopes to further through a lifelong career in public service.
