Major: Earth and Environmental Sciences and Geology

Avery is an Earth & Environmental Sciences and Geology double major with a strong interest in conservation and environmental policy. On campus, Avery serves as the Sustainability Liaison for SGA and as Chair of the Charlotte Green Initiative. Avery enjoys volunteering as a trail docent for the Carolina Raptor Center. During the summer of 2025, she completed an internship with Edisto Beach State Park, working to protect the loggerhead sea turtle population. Avery currently works on campus as an OUR research assistant for a project monitoring the genetic diversity of dragonflies in urban freshwater ecosystems. She completed a civic engagement project focused on creating a culture of nonviolence on campus and is planning to complete another focused on providing outdoor education for students in the city of Charlotte.
