Major: Mechanical Engineering
David is pursuing a B.S. in mechanical engineering with a minor in data science. He aspires to become a public servant and policymaker, where he intends to utilize technology, systems thinking and data-driven solutions to expand social and economic mobility. He hopes to dismantle barriers to access in the Charlotte community through outreach, volunteering and advocacy.
At Charlotte, David enjoys getting involved with interdisciplinary opportunities to widen his cultural, political and economic perspectives. He volunteers with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, ourBridge for Kids and Sol Nation. David is also an Undergraduate Researcher with the Charlotte Urban Institute.
Through a nonprofit internship with CleanAIRE NC, he examined how North Carolina’s environmental issues overlap with education, public health and environmental justice. David also completed an International Experience in Stellenbosch, South Africa, where he studied the legacies of Apartheid. These experiences solidified his commitment to a career in public service.
