Elijah Ninyeh is a biology major with an interest in the field of medicine. On campus, he serves as the Outreach Chair for the Collegiate Health and Service Association (CHSA). CHSA is a student-led organization that builds a supportive network of students who share a passion for fields like medicine, nursing, public health, dentistry, and physician assistant studies while engaging in volunteer initiatives that give back to the Charlotte community. Prior to studying at UNC Charlotte, he was also selected as one of sixteen students across Gaston County Schools to serve on the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, working directly with the superintendent and faculty to help allocate budgets and address disparities in student representation.
Elijah’s commitment to service extends beyond campus: he co-founded Happy Faces, an organization that collected and delivered clothing and shoe donations to children in Ghana. Through an internship he organized a summer shadowing program through Kintegra Health, giving students the chance to shadow seven different physician and healthcare professions. Looking ahead, he hopes to continue pursuing hands-on experiences that deepen his path toward a career in healthcare.
