Major: Philosophy and Political Science with minors in Legal Studies and Public Administration and a concentration in Pre-Law
Driven by a passion for cities, community and public service, Hattie Rose Hamrick is a sophomore studying Philosophy and Political Science with minors in Legal Studies and Public Administration with a concentration in pre-law. Her academic interests include transportation, urban and economic development, placemaking, local government, and ancient philosophy. As a Community Development Intern at Charlotte Center City Partners, Hattie Rose gained firsthand experience in the collaborative work of creating a more vibrant, inclusive and connected urban core. She hopes to build a career serving the Queen City by strengthening communities and helping shape the future of Charlotte, where people and neighborhoods can thrive.
Beyond the classroom, Hattie Rose serves as a volunteer campus tour guide with Niner Guides, a Preceptor for two sections MATH 1101, a Visit Guest Relations Intern with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, and the Director of Academic Affairs for Alpha Delta Pi. She also regularly volunteers with Ronald McDonald House Charities, reflecting her commitment to giving back to the Charlotte community. Outside of campus, Hattie Rose enjoys exploring Charlotte, attending Hornet’s basketball games Uptown, reading and backpacking. Having backpacked since childhood, she completed a 25-day National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) expedition through Wyoming’s Wind River Range the summer before her freshman year, an experience that further strengthened her appreciation for resilience, leadership and the communities built through shared challenges.
Hattie Rose hopes to continue exploring opportunities that allow her to combine critical thinking, service and hands-on experience in meaningful ways.
