Irene is majoring in Political Science and Latin American Studies while also pursuing a Spanish translation certificate. She is deeply committed to serving her community through various volunteer efforts. Over the past summer she completed an internship with ourBRIDGE for KIDS to help the immigrant community of Charlotte. Irene frequently volunteers with them and with Teen Court to help rehabilitate young offenders who have committed misdemeanors. She is currently interning with Dream in Mexico to help immigrants who have been deported to Mexico adjust to their new lives. At UNC Charlotte, Irene is involved in the Pre-Law Society and is on the executive board as the Publicity Coordinator. After graduation Irene plans to go to law school and eventually practice immigration law.
