Major: Political Science and Latin American Studies
Irene is majoring in political science and Latin American studies, minoring in legal studies and also pursuing a Spanish Translation Certificate. Irene volunteers at ourBRIDGE for KIDS and is planning a civic engagement project in partnership with the nonprofit. She also worked on a civic engagement project with Center 360 that worked to provide interactive lessons and activities focusing on civic duties and responsibilities, community engagement and exposure to legal opportunities to middle school students. Over the past summer she completed an internship at Sussman Law Firm in their immigration department. Irene works at Teen Court as their volunteer coordinator to help rehabilitate young offenders who have committed misdemeanors. At UNC Charlotte, Irene is involved in the Pre-Law Society and is on the executive board as the Publicity Coordinator. After graduation Irene plans to go to law school and eventually practice immigration law.
