Major: Environmental Studies
Jasmine is majoring in environmental studies and minoring in geography and art history. On campus, she serves as an EcoRep for the Office of Sustainability, Vice President of the UNC Charlotte Birding Club and is a member of the Pollinator Club. Jasmine regularly volunteers with the North Carolina Conservation Network, where she works to raise awareness of environmental legislation that will affect North Carolina residents and give them a voice in their environmental health. In her sophomore year, she worked with the Levine Museum of the New South to develop their engagement with surrounding communities. For her professional summer experience, Jasmine worked as a research assistant on a project that analyzed the growing trend of food halls and how their operation is shaping contemporary cities and food access. She has further developed her research into North Carolina’s food systems by working as a community scholar with the NC Local Food Infrastructure to strengthen the state’s food resource network through updating their Local Food Infrastructure Inventory Map.
