Kayla Walker

Hometown: Crofton, MD

Kayla Walker graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health. She completed three summer study abroad trips to Athens, Greece, Stellenbosch, South Africa and Sendai, Japan with the Levine Scholars Program. Kayla focused her civic engagement efforts towards promoting women’s health in low income communities within Charlotte. She completed a nonprofit internship at the Mecklenburg County Health Department and regularly volunteered at the South Charlotte VA Clinic and Ronald McDonald House. Kayla immersed herself in research, presenting at the 2022 State of North Carolina Undergraduate Research & Creativity Symposium and the 2023 National Conference on Undergraduate Research. Kayla was also named a 2023-24 Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact after her nomination from Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber.
