Maritsa is a political science and Spanish double major whose academic and professional interests center on law, immigration and public service. As the primary translator for her family, she has seen firsthand how language barriers can make navigating legal, medical and everyday systems difficult, shaping her commitment to advocating for immigrant communities. Her experiences include serving as an NC House Page, interning at Watkins Law, PLLC and practicing as a defense attorney through Person County Teen Court, where she advocated for restorative justice and second chances. As a Levine Scholar, she is committed to using her education to serve others and expand access to opportunity. On campus, she hopes to engage with Model UN, the Pre-Law Society and LASO. She hopes to pursue a career in criminal justice and immigration law, advocating for families navigating complex legal systems with empathy, cultural understanding and integrity.
