Mary Messina

Class of 2024

Hometown:

Saint Louis, MO

Mary is a fourth-year student from St. Louis, Missouri, pursuing three Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science, French and International Studies. She has focused her civic engagement and volunteer efforts on uplifting the youth of Charlotte, serving as a Guardian ad Litem for Mecklenburg County and running the College Readiness Workshops in partnership with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. Mary studied in France and interned in Ireland, and she hopes to continue finding communities around the globe as she has in Charlotte through the Levine Scholars Program. Her professional experience began with the Levine nonprofit internship at the Council for Children’s Rights, and she has since interned with the NCDOJ, the South Academy of International Languages, Berkeley Solicitors, and EducationUSA. Mary plans to pursue a law degree after graduation, but UNC Charlotte continues to be her home away from home no matter where she goes.
