Matthew Lowry, of Hickory, NC graduated in May 2018 with a degree in Finance and minors in Economics and Political Science. After graduating from UNC Charlotte, Matthew is planning to pursue professional business ventures and take the opportunity to travel. As part of the Levine Scholars Program, Matthew interned with Man Group Global Private Markets and the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, and also spent a summer in Jerusalem working on an archaeological dig. As his civic engagement project, Matthew partnered with other scholars on an initiative to build an outdoor callisthenic exercise facility on campus with the mission of creating an inclusive wellness space. “The Levine Scholars Program is a unique environment that provides a diverse set of opportunities for the scholars. The civic engagement grants, in particular, provide an outlet for students to take ownership of an issue and drive solutions,” During his time at UNC Charlotte, Matthew was also involved with Habitat for Humanity, the Deloitte Tax Team, and the Stock Market Club. One of his favorite experiences was the opportunity to participate in a spring break study abroad program in Ireland. “UNC Charlotte is growing fast, and it has been a privilege to grow along with it. I can’t wait to come back and see how much the campus has developed in the years to come!”
