Patrick is a fourth year student from Pittsboro, NC. He is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in Biology, a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, a graduate certificate in Bioinformatics Technology, and a minor in Mathematics. His plan after graduation is to pursue a PhD in Evolutionary Biology and to eventually work with government research centers to develop practical applications of microbiology and genetics in the context of mitigating or reversing the effects of Climate Change. Having studied abroad/interned in South Korea, South Africa, and the Republic of Ireland with the aid of the Levine Scholars Program, he hopes to promote the importance of global cooperation and cultural competency in the research process. As part of his volunteering efforts, Patrick works with the Carolina Raptor Center in their Rehabilitation Hospital where he assists in the treatment of injured birds of prey with the eventual goal of releasing them back into their natural habitats.
