Custom Study Abroad Trips

LSP’s custom-built study abroad courses have provided opportunities for scholars to engage in international research and community service across the globe from South Africa to Israel, China, Costa Rica, Japan and Spain.

Stellenbosch, South Africa
A highly focused course on the institutions of health and health care in South Africa with applied, hands-on experience and a special emphasis on HIV/AIDS.

Sendai, Japan
The course was designed to utilize the disciplinary approaches of Sociology and Geography to explore Japanese culture, institutions and socio-spatial arrangements. Because it was based in Sendai City at Tohoku University, this exploration will be anchored in the experience, aftermath and recovery of the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami.

This program focused on the global challenge of climate change. Through an interdisciplinary lens, students explored various perspectives, components and impacts of climate change both as they are experienced in the local and national contexts of Santander and Spain.
