Levine Scholars Program Announces New Associate Faculty Director
The Levine Scholars Program is thrilled to welcome Dr. Stephanie Norander to the team. Stephanie joins the program in a 12-month, full-time capacity as the inaugural Associate Faculty Director. In this role, she will focus on programming and support structures related to leadership, undergraduate research, post-graduate preparedness and professional development.
“We are delighted to have Stephanie join the LSP staff,” shares current program Faculty Director Heather Smith. “She brings a wealth of experience in program building, professional development programming and student-centered mentorship, and we have no doubt she will make lasting contributions to the strong future of the Levine Scholars Program.” Prior to the role being restructured, LSP employed a part-time Faculty Fellow to support civic engagement, research and global initiatives. This exciting change will ensure that scholars have the skills and knowledge they need upon graduation to be competitive applicants to graduate programs, professional roles, competitive fellowships and more. Additionally, the Associate Faculty Director will lead the charge in building relationships with pre-professional internship and research partners on campus, across the Charlotte region and beyond.
Dr. Norander has served as Associate Chair of the Department of Communication Studies, Executive Director of the Communication Across the Curriculum program in the Office of
Undergraduate Education, and in Faculty Fellow positions for the Dean and Provost. She is passionate about undergraduate student learning and mentoring, integrating opportunities for student development into both her administrative and teaching roles. As a Professor of Organizational Communication, she conducts research on social change organizations, women and leadership, and communication education. Dr. Norander completed her Ph.D. at Ohio University, where she received the Claude Kantner dissertation fellowship.
